The pool, fed by a waterfall, is located in the center of the park in the heart of the jungle-like vegetation of Costa Rica. It consists of 3 pretty earthenware pools, surrounded by hammocks and deckchairs.

  • BuenaVista Beach – 7 min walk – Huge wild beach, with the impression of being alone in the world. Only the ASVO turtle protection refuge is at the end of the beach.
  • Barrigona Beach – 6 km, 10 minutes by car – Secluded beach usually with nice waves for surfers. Also ideal for its magnificent sunsets from 4:45 pm.
  • Samara Beach – 10 km, 15 minutes by car – 7km beach in the middle of the charming village of Samara where all sporting activities are.
  • Carillo beach – 15 km, 30 minutes by car – Grandiose beach of fine sand bordered by coconut palms. It is the beach of Costa Rican families, mainly on Sundays.

Surf in Costa Rica.

Surfing is a very popular sport in Costa Rica due to the warm waters of the Pacific   28 ° / 30 °.

The surf spots of the Nicoya Peninsula are famous. They are suitable for both beginners and experienced surfers depending on the direction and speed of the wind, the swell and the tides.

Horseback riding is accessible to everyone, even if you have never ridden a horse. Horse treks are reserved for experienced riders.

  • Samara, 10km 15 mn by car, is a village of 4000 inhabitants on the edge of the Pacific. This village offers the main services: doctors, dentists, banks, restaurants, shops and sport activities.
  • Nicoya, 35 km 40 mn by car. This is the homeland of the Chorotega Indians. Nicoya is one of the oldest towns in Costa Rica. The central square is dominated by San Blas, one of the oldest churches built in “pisé”. On Friday morning, you can stroll through the typical farmers market. In December you can attend the very colorful festivals with the Festival of the Virgin of Guadelupe.

  • San Vicente, 55km 1h15 by car, is a charming village, you will discover Costa Rican art with the cooperative and the family pottery workshops and the Chorotégas ceramics ecoMuseum.
  • Santa Cruz, 59km 1h by car, is the capital of the Marimba, a musical instrument close to the xylophone. You will see many festivals with Marimba concerts, dances … in particular the week of January 15 and the July 25, a public holiday to celebrate the annexation of the province of Guanacaste to Costa Rica which dates from 1824
  • Liberia is the capital of Guanacaste where you can see the famous Calle Real and its authentic houses. Note that, the last week of February and July 25, the day of the commemoration of the annexation of Guanacaste to Costa Rica, you can attend traditional festivals with festivals, folk parades and equestrian parades in the streets of Liberia.

  • January – New year. Patronal feast in honor of the black Christ d’Esquipulas with religious procession, corridas, rodeos, marimbas concerts, danses  in Santa Cruz et Alajuela.
  • February – Agricultural fair with big bullfights and exhibitions of plants, especially orchids in San Isidro de El General.
  • March – Book Fair in San José. “Los rates” international festival in San José.
  • March-April: Semana Santa.
  • April – Juan Santamarìa Festival with parades, concerts, dances in AlajuelaThe festival celebrates the day of the death of Juan Santamarìa, national hero, who defended the country against the American army of William Walker who wanted to seize Costa Rica in 1856.
  • May – Ox-cart parades with the “Boyeros” in Escazu and San IsidroCosta Rica’s pastoral traditions and oxcarts have been declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.

July to December.

  • July 25 – Guanacaste Festival with corridas, rodeos, concerts, folk dances, day of celebration of the annexation of the province of Guanacaste to Costa Rica in 1824, in Liberia and Santa Cruz.
  • August 2 – Feast of the Virgin of Los Àngeles or black Virgin of Costa Rica with religious parades in Cartago.
  • August 15 – Mother’s Day.
  • Septembre 15 – National Independence Day with parades.
  • October 12 – Festival that highlights Afro-Caribbean culture in Puerto Limòn, Hispanic Day Popular, festival of Central and South America to commemorate the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus on October 12, 1492, and the interbreeding of peoples, with songs, folk dances, parades in the streets.
  • November – International theater festival in San José. Traditional festival of Boyeros  with entry of the Saints into the city and parade of oxcarts, UNESCO world heritage masterpiece in San José.
  • December 8 – National feast of Immaculate Conception. Feast of los Negritos :The Boruca Indians celebrate the Immaculate Conception in the province of Puntarenas. 
  • December 12 – Fiesta de la yeguita in Nicoya near  Costa Rica family hotel Flying Crocodile A large black horse would have separated 2 brothers who were fighting according to the legend. That day, a parade is organized with the Virgin of Guadeloupe and, there are marimbas concerts and folk dances in the streets, as well as, stands of delicious food cooked over a wood fire.
  • December 15 – Las posadas or “the inns”. Tradition before Christmas, which celebrates the trip of Joseph and Mary of Nazareth to Bethlehem, a place where good Samaritans finally granted them hospitality. That day Costa Ricans go to three neighboring houses, only the last one giving them hospitality where they pray and sing Christmas carols.
  • December 25 – Christmas.
  • December 26 – End of the year with carnival, dances, horse shows, rodeos in San José.

The dates are subject to change due to the law of July 16, 2020 allowing the transfer of public holidays to Monday in order to promote local tourism during the years 2020 to 2024.
